The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the intentions of the occupation authorities to transfer the property of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People to the Spiritual Direction of the Muslims of Crimea, which is controlled by Russia.
“This is a continuation of the deliberate discriminatory policy of the occupation authorities against Crimean Tatars, the indigenous people of Crimea,” the statement by the ministry reads.
The main building in Simferopol where the Mejlis had its office was taken as early as 2016. The Mejlis itself was declared an extremist organization and was banned from operating in occupied Crimea in the same year.
