More than 367 2000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were delivered to Ukraine under the COVAX program. The chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko said this on April 23, at a briefing, informs UATV.
“We are pleased to receive another vaccine supply from the global COVAX initiative. It is important that in the face of fierce competition and the struggle for access to vaccines in the world, COVAX confirms in practice the fulfillment of the tasks for which this global partnership was created – to provide fair opportunities for all”, said Victor Liashko.
The vaccine will be delivered to the regions. 1950 immunization points will be opened in the regions. Most of them will be in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Among those who will be vaccinated are mainly people over the age of 65 years.
Part of the vaccines, according to Liashko, will be for people who were vaccinated in February and should receive a second dose of the drug in May.
This vaccine is produced in South Korea and is identical to the CoviShield vaccine, as previously stated by the chief state sanitary doctor Viktor Liashko.
According to the UATV, the Korean-made AstraZeneca vaccine was registered in Ukraine.
In May Ukraine expects a significantly larger number of vaccines, which will speed up the vaccination campaign.
