NATO will never recognize the occupation of Crimea – Stoltenberg
NATO supports Ukraine and condemns Russia for its unjustified troop appearance near the Ukrainian border. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this on April 13, during a joint briefing with Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, UATV informs.
“We are seriously concerned about the latest developments. In recent weeks, Russia has moved thousands of troops to the Ukrainian border. This is the largest concentration of Russian troops since the occupation of Crimea in 2014. The significant accumulation of Russian troops is unjustified, it cannot be explained, and we are very worried. Russia should stop this military build-up around Ukraine, stop provocations”, Stoltenberg said.
NATO Secretary General stressed that the Alliance supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and will never recognize the occupation of Crimea.
“NATO’s support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity is stable. We do not and will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea. We continue to call on Russia to stop supporting militants in eastern Ukraine and withdraw its troops from Ukrainian territory. NATO stands next to Ukraine”, he added.
Russia continues to accumulate its troops to the Ukrainian border, and soon their number may double.
