Ivan Yatskin was sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony in the occupied Crimea
The so-called “Supreme Court of Crimea” controlled by the Russian occupation authorities announced an illegal sentence to Ukrainian citizen Ivan Yatskin in a fabricated criminal case for “collecting and transferring information to Ukraine that constitutes a state secret of Russia.”
Ombudswoman Liudmila Denysova announced this on Telegram, UATV informs.
Ivan Yatskin was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, and after the term – one year of restriction of the freedom, and administrative supervision.
“This illegal verdict of the so-called court is a demonstration of the systemic political repression of the occupation authorities against our citizens, who freely express their pro-Ukrainian position on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea”, – Denysova informs.
The Ombudswoman calls on the international community to respond to the illegal trial and increase pressure on the Russian Federation to protect the rights of citizens who remain in the temporarily occupied Crimea, and release all Ukrainian citizens illegally detained by the aggressor country.
Liudmila Denysova called for an end to the violation of the rights of political prisoner Ivan Yatskin.
To remind, earlier, Medzhit Ablyamitov was sentenced to 6 years in a strict regime colony in the occupied Crimea.
