Ukrainian political prisoner Ivan Yatskin needs urgent professional medical examination and treatment.

Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova announced this on Telegram, UA informs.

According to her, chronic diseases of Yatskin’s legs worsened – inflammation of the blood vessels led to the formation of trophic ulcers. He constantly suffers from an unbearable headache.

“The administration of the detention facility No. 1 in the city of Simferopol, where Ivan Yatskin is being held, ignores his applications for medical assistance” – Denisova writes.

She stressed that the lack of action by the administration is a flagrant violation of Articles 2 and 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 22 of the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners. At the same time, the European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly stressed that failure to provide the necessary medical assistance is torture.

Lyudmila Denisova appeals to the Ombudswoman for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova with a demand to take appropriate measures, and provide emergency medical assistance to Ivan Yatskin in full.

In addition, she calls on the international community to respond to the facts of violation of rights and take all possible measures to stop tortures against Ukrainian citizens in places of detention of the Russian Federation.

Yatskin was sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony in the occupied Crimea.
