In places of detention of the Russian Federation, the fundamental rights of illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine to receive medical care are still violated.
Ombudswoman Lyudmyla Denisova announced this on Telegram, UA reports.
Thus, the lawyer of the Crimean Tatar Dzhemil Gafarov said that after the court hearing on the case of the second Simferopol group “Hizb ut-Tahrir”, which took place on June 10, Ukrainian political prisoners Dzhemil Gafarov and Servet Gaziev were taken to the Federal State Medical and Preventive Institution “Interregional Tuberculosis Hospital No. 19” in Rostov-on-Don.
Gafarov is still in the hospital due to chronic kidney disease and gout, but no medical examinations are done. The day before Dzhemil participated in the next court session via video link.
At the same time, ambulance doctors diagnosed chronic cholecystitis – high blood pressure and severe pain in the liver. But he was taken from the hospital and returned to the pre-trial detention center without the necessary medical assistance.
The lawyers were not informed about the hospitalization of Gafarov and Lebedev.
“I have repeatedly emphasized the need to provide relevant medical assistance to Ukrainian political prisoners in my appeals to the Ombudswoman for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Moskalkova. However, this time I received a formal reply, in which the Russian Ombudswoman claims that the conditions of detention, in particular of Dzhemil Gafarov, and his medical support meets Russian and international standards”, – the Ombudswoman said.
Denisova called on the international community to take all possible measures to end tortures against Ukrainian citizens in Russian detention facilities.
