UATV Presenters Say ‘Farewell’ for Their Last News Broadcast
Starting from January 13, 2020, all of the channel's TV shows will be archived and the production of news and satellite broadcasting will cease
Ukrainian international state broadcaster UATV will cease the production of news and satellite broadcasting, starting from January 13, 2020. As a result, several of the English language news presenters bid farewell to their jobs and to their viewers around the world.
On December 27, 2019, former CEO of the TV channel Lyudmila Berezovska informed the staff of the TV channel about her dismissal. At the same time, it became known that in February 2020, a Russian language TV channel will be launched on the basis of the UATV channel operating specifically for temporarily occupied territories, Ukrainian online media DetectorMedia reported.
Berezovska said that the reason for her dismissal was a “different understanding of the prospects for the development of Ukrainian foreign broadcaster.”

The channel was created on the initiative of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine in 2015. Its purpose was to ensure access of foreign audiences to objective, up-to-date and complete information about events in Ukraine and to maintain a positive image of Ukraine in the world. The channel was available on cable networks worldwide.
At the beginning of 2020, the new management announced that the channel would cease to be a foreign broadcaster and announced the termination of satellite broadcasting.
