Ukrainian Boxer Becomes World Champion
Hard Fight Against Venezuelan in Lightweight Competition
Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has become the WBA world lightweight champion. After a hard-fought fight at Madison Square Garden in New York, he managed to knock out Venezuelan Jorge Linares in the 10th round.
This was one of the most difficult matches in Lomachenko’s career. After controlling the fight, he suffered his first ever knockdown in the 6th.
But, he managed to rally and put Linares down with a series of uppercuts and body shots. Lomanchenko now holds three championship belts. According to promoter Bob Arum, his next fight is to take place on August 25th in Los Angeles.
