Ukrainian MFA Condemns Illegal Elections in Crimea
Russia is holding local elections on September 8, 2019, including in illegally occupied Crimea in violation of Ukrainian law

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed its protest in connection with holding of the so-called “local elections” in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to the intitutions of the Russian occupation administration.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said that Ukraine will never recognize any elections, held in the territory of occupied Crimea.

Similarly, Lithuanian and Latvian Foriegn Ministers Edgars Rinkevics and Linas Linkevicius expressed their strong condemnation of the illegal elections.
“We reaffirm unwavering support to
#Ukraine’s sovereignty & territorial integrity, condemn Russia’s occupation of Crimea & continuous breach of international law,” Linkevicius wrote on Twitter.
“The results of this illegal vote are legally null and void, will have no legal consequences and will not be recognized by either Ukraine or the international community. All persons involved in organizing and holding illegal voting in temporarily occupied Crimea will be deemed responsible under the legislation of Ukraine,” the statement of the MFA reads.
