New Ukrainian Cruise Missile System

Ukraine tested a newly developed cruise missile system. The head of the national security and defense council called it a successful measure for protecting the Black Sea and Sea of Azov coastlines

Following Russia’s recent attack, the Ukrainian military is beefing up security in the Black Sea region.

At least eight cruise missiles have been tested in the Odesa region. The S-125 missile system, also known as Neptune, has been upgraded and improved. During the testing, the missile hit a target some 280 kilometers away near the small Snake Island.

“Very important drills of Ukrainian-made missiles have taken place. First of all cruise missiles were tested to see whether they are capable of hitting long-range targets. Those results that we saw today, give us confidence that Ukrainian missiles are capable of defending the coastline of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov” Oleksandr Turchynow, Secretary of the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine said.

Turchynov held a meeting with leaders of Ukrainian-made missile technology as well as representatives of the Armed Forces. The talks focused on strengthening and protecting the Black Sea region.
