Ukrainian Wins Gold at Biathlon World Championships
Dmytro Pidruchnyi is the first Ukrainian to win gold at the event
Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchnyi, 27, won a gold medal in the men’s 12.5km pursuit at the Biathlon World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden.
Pidruchnyi (two penalties) finished 8.3 seconds ahead of Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe (five penalties), who took silver, and 17.7 seconds ahead of France’s Quentin Fillon Maillet (three penalties), who claimed bronze.
Another Ukrainian, Ruslan Tkalenko (two penalties), took 38th place.
The Ternopil resident is the first Ukrainian biathlete to win the men’s world biathlon gold.
The Biathlon World Championships ends March 17.
