Ukrainian Women’s Hockey Team to Play Qualifying Matches for World Cup

Their opponents will be South Africa, Belgium, Bulgaria and Hong Kong

For the first time in 27 years, the Ukrainian national women’s hockey team will take part in the qualification games for the World Cup.

Their opponents will be South Africa, Belgium, Bulgaria and Hong Kong.

“You should never underestimate the opponent. That is why we prepare to the maximum of our abilities. No one is weak. We are all on the same level, and we will be proving it on the ice,” Yulia Artemieva, vice president of  the Ukrainian Hockey Federation said.

The head coach of the national team, Vadym Radchenko, worked with both the men’s and women’s teams. He is strict but fair and he demands the maximum from his team.

“Men’s hockey has no difference for me compared to women’s hockey. If you come to play hockey all the girly types tend to stay out. You can see for yourself what kind of emotion is raging. We will unleash it on the ice. Everyone is aiming towards victory and without emotion, without character, it will never be reached, neither by men nor women,” Radchenko said.

The tournament will be held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The team will fly on Jan. 11. The first game for them will be held on Jan. 13 against South Africa.
