Five Ukrainian sailors from a tanker, called Sea Shark, who were detained by the Egyptian military last December, are returning to Ukraine.
They are scheduled to arrive at the Odesa airport on Monday, the Sailors Assistance Fund Assol told RBC-Ukraine.
“Late on May 25, information was received that the rest of the crew, together with the Ukrainian captain, was released and sent to the hotel. They are waiting for paperwork and returning home,” a fund representative said.
The crew of the detained vessel consisted of 31 people, among which were 17 Ukrainians. Also on board the tanker were citizens of India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan.
The tanker Sea Shark was detained by the Egypt Navy because of its accidental entry into Egypt’s territorial waters, the crew said.
