US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said Americans, German and French representatives plan to hold another round of consultations on the Normandy format early this week, VoA reported.
According to the article, Volker has confirmed that he is in close contact with European partners on the issue.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the leaders of the Normandy Four negotiating countries — Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin — to resume negotiations as soon as possible.
According to an article in Yevropeiska Pravda [European Truth], French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to discuss work in the Normandy Format with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 19, 2019.
The previous meeting in the Normandy Format took place in Paris on July 13, 2019 at the level of the foreign ministers’ advisers. An agreement on an indefinite ceasefire starting from July 21 was reached at that meeting. However, on August 6, Russian controlled forces killed four Ukrainian soldiers with grenade fire near Pavlopil, Donetsk region. There have been other Ukrainian casualties as well during the ceasefire.
