Serena Williams cruised to the US Open Women’s Final by defeating Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in straight sets, 6:3, 6:1.

This win marks a milestone for Williams as it was her 101st win at the US Open, tying Chris Evert. This was reported by the New York Times.

Svitolina came into the match playing some of her best tennis. Svitolina was seeded in 5th while Williams was seeded 8th. Svitolina had won the season ending WTA Finals in Singapore in 2018 and was a Semifinalist at Wimbledon in 2019. Prior to her loss to Williams, Svitolina had not dropped a single set in her run at the US Open.
