World-renowned Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk has opened his exhibition Secrets of Genius at the ARTAREA art space in Kyiv.
“I found this gallery and when I saw the heroes of Salvador Dali and Picasso at this screen, I said that I really wanted to see my paintings on this screen. And here are my paintings from 1965 to 1980. That’s when I said goodbye to social realism, I decided that I wanted to be an abnormal artist,” Marchuk said during the exhibition, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He noted that visitors would be able to see paintings, graphics, plastic works and the first digital installation based on his works.
Marchuk presents more than 100 works that had not been exhibited before.
The exhibition will run from October 18, 2019 to December 15, 2019 in the ARTAREA art space.
Ivan Marchuk is one of the most prominent contemporary Ukrainian artists. Marchuk is a People’s Artist of Ukraine, a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine and a member of the Golden Guild of the International Academy of Modern Art in Rome.
