Zelensky Proposes Visa-Free Program for Medical Tourism
Lviv Regional State Administration Chair Markiyan Malsky said that there are seven mineral spa resorts and more than 200 mineral water sources of various types in the Lviv region
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed creating a list of the countries for a visa waiver program to develop medical tourism in Ukraine.
“We can make a list of countries whose citizens often come to Ukraine for medical treatment in order to abolish visas for them and address the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (to settle this issue). This especially concerns the countries whose nationals usually come here for treatment and rehabilitation and feel these obstacles when crossing the border,” Zelensky said at a meeting dedicated to the development of medical tourism in the town of Truskavets, in the Lviv region, Ukrinform reported.
Nowadays three times as many people go from Ukraine for treatment abroad than arrive in Ukraine for these purposes, so the issue of medical tourism development is urgent, Zelensky said.
During the meeting, Lviv Regional State Administration Chair Markiyan Malsky said that there are seven mineral spa resorts and more than 200 mineral water sources of various types in the Lviv region. The Lviv region has considerable potential for the development of plastic surgery, dentistry, health resort and rehabilitation treatment, ophthalmology, and reproductive health services, he said.
