US President Donald Trump will meet for the first time with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as part of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City on September 25, 2019.
The exact date was announced by the White House representative, Radio Liberty reports.
The two presidents are expected to discuss the process of resolving the war in Donbas, as well as cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the fields of energy and trade. In addition, the US concern over China’s attempts to “seize the intellectual property of Ukraine” may be the subject of negotiations.
According to the article, Trump “will urge all parties to fulfill their obligations in accordance with the Minsk agreements.”
Earlier, the Office of the President of Ukraine announced that a meeting of two presidents on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly was on the agenda during Zelensky’s trip to New York City.
The two leaders had planned to meet in early September in Poland during the commemoration for the beginning of Wold War II but Trump canceled his trip as Hurricane Dorian was threatening the US coast and he decided to stay in the US to monitor the storm.
